Extraordinary evening at the inaugural Finding Freedom: Art Auction and Exhibition for World Refugee Week 2023

Challenge DV teamed up with THRIVE Logan, HOST International Ltd, and Afghan Women on the Move Inc to host a special event to showcase the world-class creative talent of our local refugee communities.

Works by talented artists from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Ukraine, Venezuela, and more were energetically sold in live auctions facilitated by Christian Hamilton of Harcourts Real Estate, as well as some tough battles in the silent auctions! 100% of sales went directly to the talented artists.

All other proceeds from the event, including raffles and donation contributions, went to Helping Hands, a grassroots charity supporting refugee and migrant communities in Logan.

Guests were treated to the gorgeous sounds of Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra cellist, Juan Guillermo Valdes Meluk and enjoyed the luxurious, custom-tailored catering from Firebird Catering.

Over 100 people attended the exhibition in support of diversifying success and empowering refugees on their pathway to thrive in Australia. We’re incredibly proud to announce that $16,000 was raised on the evening with $13,000 of this going directly to the world-class artists.

Thank you to everyone that attended and made this evening possible. Special thanks must go to our amazing supporters for providing prizes, including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Stephanies Luxury Spas, BEYOND TotalFusion, La Boite Theatre, Alice Ginger Gould, Clare Page, SureVision, Brisbane Festival and Monet in Paris.

Thanks again to THRIVE Logan, HOST International Ltd, and Afghan Women on the Move Inc. for wonderful collaboration - we’re already looking forward to next year's event!
